9. ...Nxd4? - hm, actually this move is known as bad for ages.
check Van der Wiel - Van de Mortel, 12.h4 (1996)
  
The older, the better - over 2200 and still rising.

However, most strong players seem to prefer the continuation 16.hxg6. Anybody knows why is that?


Closing the Kingside with h6 is somewhat unnatural in the Yugoslav attack, and I think a lot of players will find it unintuitive to handle the dragon in this way.

In fact, I should mention that according to Amanov and Kavutskiy, white can play without g4, and postpone it after h6 is played.

Computers have always tended to like these sorts of space gaining/piece shutting in move so maybe its down to their influence.

I thinks it a matter of taste, there are theory on both lines.

I think that hxg6 is the traditional move.

At any rate theory considers this system as better for white.
