We have all done it,.

Jones seemed to be in a state of shock though to let him back in, several atrocious moves in a row

no master would lose a piece this way

History shows that masters are quite capable of the most atrocious blunders. Often times they can blame time trouble, other times illness, but sometimes they have literally no excuse.

The strength of a player is not determined by the seriousness of their errors, but by the frequency.

Magnus has clearly access to a alpha zero, no master would lose a piece this way. ^^

But when you remember the game Carlsen - Giri

http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1604359

there was the same pattern.
Maybe we have spotted a weakness:)

Be careful as the pawn-move doesn't always work. Have a look to game 4, move 16 which I published in my just posted article https://chess-brabo.blogspot.com/2018/01/halloween.html
My opponent thought that he won a piece but he just fooled himself.

The older, the better - over 2200 and still rising.
