Avrukh has this line but instead of 9. c5 as played by So he follows Cheparinov-Gabuzyan, 2014 with 9.Nf3 d6 and then he gives 10. 0-0N Bd7 11.Qb3 Na6 12.Rac1 +=

In GM Rep 2A Avrukh recommends something like this against early ...c5 (I don't have the book, just saw the index, so can't say nothing more). Maybe this was the inspiration... Smiley

Wesley So played a rare idea against Gawain Jones at this year's Tata Steel tournament. This was meeting an early .. c5 by just taking it. It's been seen before, if rarely. White's novelty appears to be playing 9. c5. Wesley has had the position at move 6 before, without taking on c5.

The first 20 moves of the game. White got an ending the exchange up for a pawn.
