Find the .uci file and add the following line to the [OPTIONS] section:
Contempt=0

Does a 64 bit file work?

Edit - if you put a 32 bit exe in 'Program Files' instead of 'Program Files x86' perhaps the OS balks?

I think that's the message you get when you try to run a 16-bit .exe on a 64-bit system.

@brabo - Thanks for pointing out the Contempt. I didn't notice that myself so probably would have made some strange decisions based on it.

@GMTonyKosten - I was pretty sure those errors did not apply to you, but it is hard to think what else might be wrong with your setup, besides a bad compile which you have no control over. I can't download proustikeen's version on this machine, but I can try it when I get home.

It is possible to run the engine from the command line to see if everything is okay. Here is a session I just did on the official release. My commands are in bold. The difference is not quite 20 centipawns, but it's close.

    A couple of ideas.

    I tried downloading again but when I 'Create UCI engine' and find the .exe file nothing happens, no name, no parameters.
