The other change is that she didn't include her demolition of me in a model game in the second edition  Roll Eyes

You forced her to change her repertoire!  Wink

How out of date is is earlier book "Play the Caro-Kann: A Complete Chess Opening Repertoire Against 1e4"  As I can get that at a used book store.

Houska is very good with verbal explanations.

Agreed there.
Houska writes well. Enthusiastic and clear. Argues well for the repertoire choices.
Yes, the Nb6 Panov line is a bit...iffy. But, on the whole, a worthy buy, ay.

I think the line against the Panov may have been changed but i dont think there are too many other changes in recommended lines.

I would think you could get a good bargain on the old book, and if it's mainly for the ideas you want it for, then it could well be useful to you to start with.

I have read that her Panov recommendation was deemed too risky in the first edition, but I'd expect not unplayable for the most of us.

The other change is that she didn't include her demolition of me in a model game in the second edition  Roll Eyes

When you post, click on the third icon from the left (looks like a little painting) and you will get a couple of boxes with img in them, then paste the URL for your image in between them and, voila!

.
Its  a little out of date theory wise but if you are not at the highest levels and you are new to the opening then will be a good book to start with. I think its  presentation may be even easier to read than her more recent book.

I think the line against the Panov may have been changed but i dont think there are too many other changes in recommended lines.

You need to put the URL of the actual image. Quote my post and you will see...

In my browser (Firefox), I right click on the image and use 'copy image location' to get these URLs

I tried, but it didn't work… Sad

Maybe this advice needs to be in a different topic

Post what you did in a reply, then I can have a look at what's wrong.

i.e. something with [ img ] [ /img ] in it

I agree I think the Houska book is the best choice currently, but the Bologan book is about to be published and may be competitive.
