Yes I know about the Dismantling book, actually I own it too. I have browsed the Kasparov book, and it looks interesting. But only browsed, and haven't really looked at the Shaw book, I grabbed the Tarrasch book first.

So you are saying the real comparison is between Shaw and Sergey Kasparov's book?

You are thinking about "Steamrolling the sicilian"  who played the Prins variation with 5 f3 instead of  5 Nc3. I have not read that book so I can not compare.

The book I compare to is the updated version of "Dismantling the Sicilian" from last year.

The books has different plusses. Dismantling has intoduction sections and summary sections in each variation but Playing 1 e4 has more own ideas. About Taimanov Shaws ultimate mainline ends up in a position that he writes is 0.00 according to computer.  I stick to my g3 vs Taimanov but I will use other parts of Shaws book. A key difference between that books is that while Dismantling tries to enter the most critical modern lines vs every system like h3 vs Najdorf and a completly different setup vs Classical etc while Playing 1 e4 book line are in more coherent style like f3 Be3 (in some order) setups vs Najdorf, Classical, Dragon and Schveningen and c4 setups vs Accelerated Dragon, Kalashnikov and Kan.

I believe you mentioned in another thread you have the new Dismantling... book. How would you compare the general Dragon coverage (and also the Taimanov, as they chose the same line there too).

The book finnaly arrived today. The book looks impressive and has several new ideas in several sicilian lines.

vs Dragon he goes for 9 0-0-0 yugoslav attack meating d5 with Qe1. He does however not play the trendy 14 Kb1 in e5 stuff becouse  he thinks that black has no problems after a5!. I got the same conclusion when prepearing for a thematical event at ICCF and I have 1 game in the line thats is currenty running but I will post no details about it or how it developed becouse of tournament rules. So Shaw goes for 14 Ne4 instead.
