Collins writes that it is basically about 1.Nf3 d5 2.c4, it is not a repertoire for White, and it is mainly concerned with recent games by top GMs...

Is it useful for 1.Nf3 d5 2.g3 players, too? Or only for 1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 players?

Suspect that the book is very much focused on an early c4 by white, so whilst you can probably transpose back into the book with 3 c4 if black plays 2...c6 2...e6,  the longer you delay c4 the less likely you are to be able make this transposition.

Good news, there is now a pdf excerpt on the Everyman website for this book!

The author makes it very clear that it will only cover black's response 1....d5 or to Reti positions transposing to the d5 positions via 1...e6 or 1...c6.... so at 288 pages there should be plenty of content for Reti enthusiasts.  Smiley Smiley

would your columnist Sam Collins be able to give an up-date on this book please?

I'll ask him, although I'm a bit surprised as I always thought Sam was a 1 e4 player.

Publication dates are mostly just guesses.

I don't know anything about this Reti book in particular, but the usual reason a book is late is that the author is late finishing the manuscript. And editing often delays it again. It's hardly ever the publishers fault. Publishers really like things to be on time.

I pretty much add 6-12 months on the estimated publication date of any Quality opening book...works well 9 time out of 10.

On the plus side Quality are excellent at communicating with potential customers whereas Everyman just ignore any questions.

I also noticed the publishers delay (now March 2019), really disappointing.... being a Reti player I was looking forward to this publication.

"Reti move my move" is not kind of an oxymoron?

Like "positional maneuvering for a 1200 elo player" or "mate with Q+K vs K for GMs" xD

Good to see another book on the Reti in the pipeline. I'm sure Chesspublishing contributor Sam Collins will do an excellent job so looking forward to seeing the content excert on the Everyman website in the near future!
