I kept getting another problem while preparing for games recently: when I made an 'Openings book' (Shift + enter) from my opponent's recent games I would click on, say, 1 c4 and it would play 1 d4 or 1 e4, whichever move was at the top of the list. This is not a major annoyance, but still. Roll Eyes

There was another update today, so here's hoping...

I think the window size bug might also be fixed.

If I enter this in ChessBase 15, with Megabase/Bigbase as the reference, it claims white scores 0.0%.

I've been experiencing a similar issue, though with a completely different line. The reference function in ChessBase 15 quickly finds all the games that have reached a given position (in my case about 90 games), but then appears to freeze while it calculates the score percentage for each move played, giving 0.0 % for all of them. Actually, it hasn't frozen: if you leave the program to itself for a while (I'd guess around 2-3 minutes), it eventually gives the correct results, but something's clearly not working properly. The problem persists as you work further down the line and the number of games diminishes. There was an update to ChessBase 15 a few days ago and I suspect something in this is screwing things up. If so, it wouldn't be the first time that a ChessBase update has created problems that weren't there before.

1. Nf3 c5 2. c4 g6 3. d4 Bg7 4. e4 cxd4 5. Nxd4 Nc6 6. Be3 Nf6 7. Nc3 d6 8. Be2
O-O 9. O-O Bd7 10. h3 Nxd4 11. Bxd4 Bc6 12. Qc2  a5 13. Rad1 Nd7 14. Bxg7 Kxg7

If I enter this in ChessBase 15, with Megabase/Bigbase as the reference, it claims white scores 0.0%. In reality it's over 80% with ~65 games played.

The whole variation with h3 looks like a problem for black, because he's scoring terribly here even though all the moves above are the most played ones.

4. The Search function is much, much slower. It seems to want to create a booster every time before starting the search. Just search the fecking games you useless pile of shite! Angry

Did you try unchecking the "With Game Data" box as I suggested in reply #13 ?

Okay, that's one solved, thanks Smiley

3. Diagrams won't copy from CB to other programs without adding all the game details as well.

Three things so far:

1. The remove doubles function doesn't work (but then it didn't work in CB14 either).
2. Within text files, creating links to other text files doesn't work.
3. Diagrams won't copy from CB to other programs without adding all the game details as well.

Yes, I keep my databases in PGN. If I convert to ChessBase or Chess Assistant format then I consider the resulting database "read-only". If I need to make changes, I make them in a separate "incremental" PGN database and merge later.

I wonder does anyone know what the Quote:
{[%mdl 32768]}
code does? CB13 keeps leaving this at the beginning of each PGN game, and this is something else that I have to remove automatically, but I'm curious to know what it is there for. Huh

Just guessing here - medal #15 ?

Post a sample pgn with some Instant Analysis in it, and I will post a script that removes just that bit.

Thanks, but I can already do that myself. What I really want to know is how to remove this instant analysis stuff from the ChessBase file - I have already inadvertently 'contaminated' some important files with it and when I then convert them to PGN it produces these ugly and unnecessary bits of code. As soon as I realised this was going on I turned Instant Analysis off ... and then even stopped using CB15, but the damage was already done!

Does anyone know how to remove this Instant Analysis code from the games? It's not such a big deal when the games are in CB format, but for PGN it just makes them bulkier.

Easy. There are tools that will remove all comments (e.g. pgn-extract), but I assume you want only the Instant Analysis removed. I uninstalled my recent ChessBase, so I don't have an example. Post a sample pgn with some Instant Analysis in it, and I will post a script that removes just that bit.

It's formatted as a comment, so it will not interfere with the normal workings for software unfamiliar with it. I doubt anything is supporting actually interpreting it at this point though as it appears to be a new "embedded command" format.

Is anyone successfully using CB15 on Windows 10 inside Parallels for Mac? I used to do this with an earlier version and Windows XP, with moderate success. I am now trying to use CB15 running under Windows 10 on a 3.2 GHz Core i7 Mac mini, and it sort of works ... but only if I don't use an engine! Otherwise it keeps freezing and becomes unusable. The Mac has 32 GB of RAM and I have tried giving the virtual machine up to 16 GB of that, but it makes no difference.

I can't revert to Windows XP because CB15 won't install on that. I'd be willing to buy Windows 7, but only if I know that CB15 will play nicely with it.
