Is there anything on c6 on move 2 on this DVD? As a club player, when unused to play the colle, I would get that so much. Actually it's probably why I stopped playing it. I really hope he have something against it.

I'll just add a bit regarding 3...Bf5 4. Nh4.  When the game Williams uses (Shengelia-Sedina, which continued 4...Bg4 5. Qd3) appeared in Chess Publishing, Richard Palliser had this comment:  "Food for thought for sure, but I’m not sure how much I can recommend imitating Shengelia as, despite his fine win, Black seems to be absolutely fine after 5...c5!."

I do not know very much about the guy. I do know that one of my games where I got destroyed was in one of his opening books  Cheesy

But I have his books on Dutch and French. I have seen some commentary on Gibraltar Open for example. He is the guy who says "Harry h-pawn" and those stuff, so my impression is he really likes attack.

Which I find very rare that he does DWD on Colle. My guess is he will try to attempt kingside attack with the b3 system, by putting knight on e5 and go f4 (¿).

My order of Pavloviç book Modernised Colle is in shipment, so waiting for that one. But then does Pavloviç play Colle unlike Williams ¿

I do not buy DWD as much because they cost as much as paper books. Would need more detail though, inhalte does not show too much, so I still deciding.

I would be wary about this dvd; Williams does not play it and is not the kind of opening that matches his style of play

That does seem more interesting than rewersed Meran styled structure with c3-d4-e3. That system looks more like lame Stonewall with f4 missing.

The Colle-K is rather an inferior sideline of the Meran with colours reversed and an extra tempo: 1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.Nc3 e6 5.e3 Nbd7 6.Bd3 Bd6 (advocated by IM Walter Shipman).
Worse, as soon as White plays the thematical e3-e4 play becomes a French Rubinstein with a tempo down for White. So I question GM Williams' choice of Colle-O'Hanlon as an illlustrative game; it's hardly typical.

The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

Qe2 Bd6), one might wonder how much he has to say about 10...h6.  (As a historical bit, it has been almost 30 years since Jeremy Silman opined that that is a complete answer to the Colle, after playing it in a match against Colle specialist IM Doug Root.)

I dug this game out of my personal database.

I thought you made a copy/paste error, missing out on Sidelines 01 and Sidelines 02. But I see it's the same in the ChessBase shop listing. I find it strange that the title is Colle-Koltanowski, the "Instructive Games" are the Colle-Koltanowski, but the "Main Setup" is the Colle Zukertort. Couldn't he find any instructive games with the Zukertort?

By the way, are Colle-Koltanowski and Colle Zukertort the generally accepted names these days? When I learned them, they were simply the Colle and the Zukertort, respectively. Koltanowski himself always referred to the first as simply the Colle System, and I don't recall any games where Edgard Colle played the Zukertort. Please somebody correct me if I have my facts wrong.

Koltanowski, in his book on the Colle and in his own games, advocated 3.g3 against the King's Indian, as both safe and promising. It doesn't bring white the typical kingside chances as in the Colle, but then again neither would 3.e3.

So yes, apparently the Zukertort system with b3. That does seem more interesting than rewersed Meran styled structure with c3-d4-e3. That system looks more like lame Stonewall with f4 missing.

Video clip 24 looks like it transposes to QID 4. e3 Variation, but has later a b3 there.

Since he has Torre Attack DWD, surely he prefers that to Colle against Grünfeld/KID. I noticed that in Sedlak book on London System. Volume two of that book he did not recommend London against 1...Cf6 Indian defences, but rather Torre Attack.

I would think though maybe that lines similar to given as in book e3 Poison could be used against Grünfeld/KID.

Maybe can be used with a book I saw once, I think called Zuke or something strange (¿)

Although personally I would prefer Fianchetto against Indian defences  Cool

In the Colle, I notice that against 3...Bf5 he evidently goes with 4. Nh4 (hmmm).

Regarding 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 d5 3.e3 e6 4.Bd3 c5 5.c3 Nc6 6.Nbd2 Bd6 7.0-0 0-0 8.dc Bxc5 9.e4 for which he uses Koltanowski-Defosse (9...Qc7 10. Well the Colle DVD as well as one on the Torre by the same author are now up on the ChessBase site. It looks like he wants to suggest the Colle against 1 d4 d5, and the Torre against ...Nf6 with ...e6 or ...g6, etc.

Although, despite the title, it looks like the Colle videos are mostly about the b3 set-ups, not the c3 ones.

I notice that after 3...Bf5 Pavlovic has played 4. Bd3, against which his opponent chose 4...Bg6.  (An old bit of theory which stuck in my memory is 4...e6 5. Bxf5 ef 6. Qd3 Qc8 leading to equality as in a game Alekhine-Euwe.)

A lot of colle source materials often advocate going into main lines against the slav i think.

Agreed many do, but fortunately not all of them. In his new book GM Pavlovic says after 3....c6 "Now white has a choice between 4 c4, with a direct transposition to the Slav which is OK, or to employ a line I am trying to give more credit".
