I played the Kalashnikov for a few years after GM Dejan Bojkov released his DVD on it back in 2011(I think). I'm a USCF expert, and had the misfortune of only getting one game in the Kalashnikov in a two year period! I mostly faced the Rossolimo and other Anti-sicilians. My opponent, USCF life master, didnt' really know any theory past move 10, so we were quickly out of book in non-testing variation.

Opening preparation just doesn't go very far in USA's weekend swiss style of events.

I'd be interested in this DVD if someone could post a review.

Thanks!

I believe that one of the advantages of this compared to the Sweshnikow is that this is overall more positional and Black does not get destroyed if he forgets theory. But then position can get stuck sometimes.

It might be one of those openings that is more difficult to play on correspondence games compared to OTB though.

I wonder what TonyRo thinks of this DWD compared to his book. If he bought the DWD, of course  Cheesy

I've played this a couple of times at ICCF....as black I was OK but making any progress in the 8 Nc4 b5 9 Ne3 Nf6 10 g3 was near impossible and in one of the games where white got in 18 f4 I had to tread with great care to secure the draw.

My personal opinion is that I slightly prefer L'Ami as presenter compared to Pert, but both are fine still. In any case, I have not seen any material, neither book nor database nor DWD, about Kalashnikow since the Everyman book. But that book was several years ago.
