You're lucky I also have his Reti book!  Wink

Demuth_Reti vs Demuth_Dutch: 1.Nf3 f5 2.d3!? Nc6! 3.d4!? e6 4.g3 Nf6 5.Bg2 Be7 6.c4! 0-0 7.0-0 d6 8.d5! Ne5! 9.Qb3! (!? Dutch) Nxf3+ 10.exf3! e5N 11.f4! Nd7! etc. (Rahman - Sandipan 2018)

I analysed this line already in 2013 see http://schaken-brabo.blogspot.com/2013/06/belgische-interclubs-apotheose.html
It is weird he indicates e5 as a novelty while it is already known for many years. Also 9.Nd4 is a very interesting alternative as I indicated in my article. Anyway I switched afterwards to 2...d6 instead of 2...Nc6 as I mentioned before on this site.

What does he recommend against 1 Nf3 f5 2 d3 in this book. This is what he says is best against the Dutch in his Reti book.

2...Nc6!

Ok same as in the Reti book which continues with 3 d4. Has he changed his mind on this line or is it the same analysis.

You're lucky I also have his Reti book!  Wink

Good point  Smiley

Demuth_Reti vs Demuth_Dutch: 1.Nf3 f5 2.d3!? Nc6! 3.d4!? e6 4.g3 Nf6 5.Bg2 Be7 6.c4! 0-0 7.0-0 d6 8.d5! Ne5! 9.Qb3! (!? Dutch) Nxf3+ 10.exf3! e5N 11.f4! Nd7! etc. (Rahman - Sandipan)

Thank you. So do you recommend the new book and have you used his lines.

I think it is a (very) good book, but I don't play 1.Nf3 f5 with Black and also not 1.Nf3 f5 2.d3 with White.

Thank you very much for the advice. Time to spend some money   Smiley

I’m thinking of buying this book. Do you recommend it after reading it.

Are you serious ¿ Too much original analysis is bad ¿ Should it not be a good thing that it is not just game references, and instead has new original analysis ¿

I think he means that he is concerned that the analysis may not actually be original or new, not that having original analysis per se is bad in a book.

You are absolutely right, RoleyPoley. I think original analysis is a good thing, off course. But when I went through some of the variations I noticed there were games played with it, but no game references given. So sometimes I think it is difficult to see where the new analysis begins.

Too little own analysis

I have not studied the book thoroughly, but I think there is very much own analysis, also with novelties. Although the lack of more game references makes me doubt if some of his analysis is new or already played before.

@winawer77:

Yes, it is indeed 7 ... c6. It's a good, up to date book, unfortunately with the usual mistakes of a "theory" book.
Too little own analysis and too much known blabla. In addition, many inaccuracies ...
It may be enough for OTB, but not for corr / the abolute truth.

Does anyone have the book? If so, would you recommend it? Any thoughts or comments about the material suggested?

Also, which main line does he suggest? Id imagine its 7...c6.

Thanks on advance. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Dutch and I’m trying to convince myself not to buy it. Smiley

I think it's strange that Demuth doesn't mention the books from Karolyi in the Bibliography.
