Now this book is announced for December 15th .

Btw, according to the ToC it‘s more about how to beat the Philidor!?
The treatment of 2 Nf3 d6 3 d4 and 2 Nf3 Nf6 3 Nc3 d6 4 d4
has 115 pages, more than the Spanish Four Knights!

By the way, I never managed to find an edge for White in the following Symmetrical Variation either: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Bb5 Bb4 5.0-0 0-0 6.d3 d6 7.Bg5 Ne7! = For this reason I think 7.Ne2!? is a better try for a little something and I predict that the Khalifman Book will go in this direction, although secretly I hope they have found something after 7.Bg5 Ne7! as the 7.Bg5 line has such a rich history.

It intrigues me that so few players choose 4...Nd4 5.O-O c6. I think it's a bigger problem for White than the regular 5...Nxd4 - not that that's a bad move. I'm curious what GM Khalifman will say about it.

The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

Particularly interesting is the little known and easier to play for white in my opinion, option against the Rubinstein Variation: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Bb5 Nd4 5.0-0!?

This was recommended by John Emms in the Dangerous Weapons book. What intrigues me about it is that it was a favourite of Joe Gallagher -- not exactly a timid or unambitious player.

Looking forward to this one as i've had this as a backup low to no maintenance repertoire for years. Particularly interesting is the little known and easier to play for white in my opinion, option against the Rubinstein Variation: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Bb5 Nd4 5.0-0!? if Black knows what he's doing it's just equal of course but what isn't these days.

Should be interested in their suggestions vs. the early deviations, they are very popular in online chess at lower level. I frequently have to play vs. the 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 exd4 Philidor. Latvian and Elephant gambits are seen from time to time, too, in my experience.

Chess Stars has announced a new forthcoming book
on the Spanish Four Knights and the road from 2 Nf3 to 4 Bb5 :

Squeezing 1 e4 e5 - a solid strategic approach
by Alexander Khalifman and Sergei Soloviov
~ 280 pages , end of november 2019

On their homepage you can download a preview with bibliography and toc.
Only 100 pages are on a white repertoire in the Spanish4K
(with 4 Bb5 Bc5 5 0-0, 4... Nd4 5 0-0 and 4...Bb4 5 0-0)
the bigger part is for early deviations after 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 as
Elephant, Latvian, Philidor, Petroff3Knights and (normal) 3Knights.
