	Hi. Candidates now stopped. Round 8-14 to be played at later dates. Reason for stop is given as players having a hard time getting home after stop of international flights to and from the Russian Federation (taking effect tomorrow) and this placing an undue burden on the players getting home later. https://www.fide.com/news/462 Good luck to everybody on their journey home.

	It's not that he would be denied entry if he could make it back... it's where does he go for a flight? How?

	Don't know the law in other countries, but it is law that US citizens cannot be denied entry at the U.S. border. That was reinforced when the U.S. began limiting entry due to COVID-19. They may end up in jail or elsewhere, depending on their legal or other status but they can always come back to the U.S.A. Lucky Luciano is the only one I can think of who was told not to come back but I think he made a deal with the feds for his freedom.

Speaking of irresponsible, let's see if, after stopping the tournament, they allow the grandmasters (and seconds, and everybody) to fly home rather than putting them in quarantine for 14 days. Don't fly, people. Don't take a train. Don't take a bus. Only fools and the infected are flying. Some people are both. I read a news report that a commercial flight had 24 passengers, 7 of them had COVID-19. Minimum seventeen fools on that flight, going home to kiss their children good-night.

	Hi. Next round (R6) is: 1. GM Grischuk, A. (2½) 2777 — GM Caruana, F. (2½) 2842 2. GM Alekseenko (2) 2698 — GM Giri, Anish (2) 2763 3. GM Nepomniachtc. (3½) 2774 — GM Ding, Liren (2) 2805 4. GM Wang, Hao (2½) 2762 — GM Vachier-Lagr. (3) 2767 Meaning Both Ding and Caruana have black again (and Lagrave). So beforehand it doesn't look like a round where it is likely Nepo would lose much ground unless he loses. Have a nice day.
