Spoiler Alert !

This is the answer to the Blathy study posted just before.

The book solution:
1.Kd1! Bb2 2.Ke1 Bc1 3.Kf1 Bd2 4.Kg1 (or 4. Kg2 Be1 5. Kg1) 4...Be1 5.Kg2 Bd2
6.Kf1 Bc1 7.Ke1 Bb2 8.Kd1 Ba1 9.Kc1 Bb2+ 10.Kb1 +-.

No argument there, although I find it a stretch to call this "domination".

But, I cooked it. Instead of 6.Kf1, white can also win by going out:
6.Kf3!? Be1 7.Ke4 Bf2 8.Ke5 Bg3+
  • 8...Bg1 9.Ke6 Bxh2 10.Ke7 Bf4 11.d7+ Kb7 12.d8=B (actually any promotion wins, 12.d8=N+ is simple enough) 12...Bg5+ 13.Kd7 Bxd8 14.Kxd8 Kxb6 15.Kd7 Kc5 16.Ke6 Kd4 17.Kf5 Kd5 18.Kf4 Kd4 19.Kf3 Kd5 20.Kxe3 Ke5 21.Kf3 Kf5 22.e4+ Kg5 23.Ke3 +-
9.hxg3 hxg3 10.Ke6 g2 11.d7+ Kb7 12.d8=Q g1=Q 13.Qc7+ Ka6 14.b7 +- , and Stockfish agrees.

I'm really enjoying this book. My only regret is that my copy is from Ishi Press. If I had noticed that before the purchase, I would have passed. Also, I'm reminded I should finish looking at Tattersall.

White to move and win.

I will give the answer in a second post.
