Unix based computers are case sensitive. I've run into the all caps restriction before. Maybe it made sense at one time, but now with lengthy paths being automatically generated there's a chance for significant parts of URLs to be in all caps. Oh well.

You could try Bibs's idea, and it should work with either the img or url tags. Just make sure if you go that route not to accidentally share more files than you intend. If you share an image that way, some people *will* try to discover if there are any other _interesting_ files they can see. I create a separate folder called Shared, change the file service itself to be not shared, then share only items in the Shared folder.

Never desperate just curious but,

Everything works up to preview but due to the "No all Caps" rule the URL will not post as an image and the URL fails if edited to lower case, even in part. I can not get it to work as a URL link for the same reason; You see the url link, but that link fails. (The long list of 8 "a"s in the link should be all caps. Editing them to lower case fails.) So your advice was correct, but forum rules forbid me to ever actually post it.  Huh

If you were desperate to show something, save on your Google Drive (or Mega, or Dropbox etc) and simply post a link - the URL.

Is it possible for me to post a pic (.jpg, say) from my computer to a reply on the board and how exactly?

No, not unless you have set up your computer as a server.

Also, if the pic is located at another web-site how would I get it to my post here on the forum?

I've never done it, but I think it works this way:
  • Right-click and Copy Link, or Copy Image Location, or whatever your browser call that option.
  • Paste that url into your post here.
  • Highlight the url.
  • On the chesspub toolbar click on the third button from the left to enclose the url in "img" tags.

The image can be displayed here as long as that url remains valid.

What is the definition of an "image" anyway?

It's anything which the computer has been programmed to recognize as an image (sorry for the circular definition) and knows how to display as such.

I hope this is the right place to ask!

Is it possible for me to post a pic (.jpg, say) from my computer to a reply on the board and how exactly? Also, if the pic is located at another web-site how would I get it to my post here on the forum? What is the definition of an "image" anyway?

TIA!
