Proustiskeen:

thanks; i have just looked and relooked at your video

nice video

I have a few questions, if you have the time, some motivated by something you said in the video

please let us assume that I much less confortable than the guy you were talking to in the video

i) when i bought Fritz17, I got by default 2 versions of Lc0 v023.3; the "cpu" version and the "opencl" version

I noticed that the first runs on 6 CPUs and the opencl on 2.
Also, when dis engine matches, e.g, against S10,
I had S10 against Lc0 v023.3 cpu and both running on 6 CPUs-. Is this good or should I, somehow, decrease the number of CPUs on both
Engine matches with the opencl version have 2 CPUs on
this version but 6 still on S10.

What are the two 26.3 equivalent versions to the two i have of versions 23.3

Also, when trying to install S12, i did a few attempts and now
have 2 or 3 versions of it installed; how do i delete them?

Finally, I installed a "version" of 26.3 (which runs on 2 CPUs) and apparently does something [I tried] but did not install the network. And now, after looking at your video,
it looks I have a cocktail with relevant things missing

My apologies for these "basic" questions and apologies again for taking your time

Fritz will show you how many threads you are running just above the analysis, click there and a window will pop up where you can change the number of threads.

In Stockfish 11, the UCI command "Threads" tells Stockfish how many cores (real or virtual) to use. There should be an option in Fritz to change that, in Fritz 16 it was "Max CPUs". I think you need to click an Advanced button somewhere to see it.

You are using Stockfish 12 and Fritz 17, so things might have changed, but probably not that much.

Paddy, Pawnpusher and "an ordinary chessplayer"

Tried to install Stockfish12

apparently everything went well
However, after instaling it, when i run SF12, it runs with one
CPU, while the remaining engines I have "properly" installed
when i bought FRITZ16, run on 6 CPUs

anything wring I did?

and thanks for your time

The below link explains in detail how to setup Lc0. There is a how-to section on Fritz in particular (also Arena and CuteChess). You should probably search the webs for UCI protocol if you want to be changing anything from what they show.

Also Stockfish and Leela both have discord channels with some helpful folks who are glad to help.

Hi

I have Fritz17 installed in my computer; by default the package also has Lc023 and Stockfish

I heard that there are new versions of these engines that can be installed for free.

can this be done in a way that we still can use the Fritz environment

and how can i download these new versions?

thanks,

Hi Ig,
I use CHessbase rather than Fritz but installing a UCI engine should be similar in both programs.
The latest version of Stockfish is always available here:
http://www.stockfishchess.com/
Leela from here:
https://lczero.org/
There is info on installing Leela here:
https://new.uschess.org/news/leela-chess-install-use
and here:

If you get stuck, maybe post again here?

There is a site called abrok that has frequent stockfish updates. You just download them and install them on Fritz. The LcO updates are less frequent, and you can find them and new networks on github.
