Hi.

Yea. There is a limited number of ICCF games. Looks like a very standard KID positiom to be honest. That being said going h6-h5 is not trivial. Conceivably you could want that tempo for something else.

Have a nice day.

Saw the game in the Feb 2021 newsletter and remembered I'd played in that line in a correspondence game at a private site (non-engine) and looked it up. After:

1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 Bg7 4. e4 d6 5. Be2 O-O 6. Be3 Na6 7. Nf3 e5 8. O-O Ng4 9. Bg5 Qe8 10. d5 f5

My opponent instead chose 11 Ne1 h6 12 Bd2 Nf6 13 f3 g5 14 Nd3 Qg6 and surprised me with 15 b4! Not having ICCF games downloaded at the time I didn't know this wasn't new and 15 ... h5 had been played there. I instead played 15 .. f4?! and lost. Taking the pawn instead with 15 ... fxe4 is just miserable. I noted in my annotations to my game that 15 b4 h5 White could look at a new move 16 Qe1 to meet ... g4 with Qh4.
