What is the line given against the 4.d3 Two Knights? That's what I see the most by far these days.

4...d5!? Smiley

And do Everyman still do their PGN / PDF ebooks? I find them more practical than paper books.

I've done the CB file already. The PGN will be converted from that – when I get round to it.

Yes. Go to:
https://everymanchess.com/collections/ebooks
I suggest you set up an account. They sent me an e-mail with links for Black Friday sales.

It is a good idea to get reward points. I found that confusing at first, but it's worth the trouble as they do add up.

Interesting book. I've started playing 1...e5 a few years ago and adding some disreputable sidelines to my normal lines sounds like a great idea.

IMHO it should be interesting, in the future, a similar book vs. other moves than 1.e4!

I haven't had a good look at the Ulvestad 5...b5 6.Bf1 Nxd5!? yet.  I have sometimes played the Ulvestad myself with Black, but am yet to face 6.Bf1 (6.Bxc6+ Qxc6 has been the most usual response in my games).  I remember that 6...Nd4 7.c3 Nxd5 8.cxd4! (covered in the extract) was also analysed as better for White here at Chesspublishing.com some time ago.

I may well pick up a copy myself in the near future, as I've always been interested in these wacky Open Games sidelines and the Two Knights chapter in particular is somewhat relevant to my repertoire.

For me as well. In the introduction SIM Tait accurately describes my approach to the Classical Dutch.

The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

Now there‘s a pdf preview on Everyman‘s homepage:

https://everymanchess.com/collections/coming-soon/products/a-disreputable-openin...

24 pages with toc, introduction and large parts of the Two Knights Ulvestad chapter.

Looks like a must-buy for me!

I find it very useful and refer to it regularly. I also have more recent literature on 1.b3, and while some lines are tricky, your book is very well-written and remains the main source and I play 1.b3 fairly regularly, not just for surprise value.

Looking forward to the new book, even though its on a different subject.

Thanks Smiley

A book I remember buying in Waterstone's on Grey Street in Newcastle. I was consulting it just the other day (after losing an online game in the opening to Dominic Lawson, no less).

Was it still useful? Smiley . Twenty years is a very long time in chess theory, even after 1 b3.

I, for one, am looking forward to buying and reading the book. I also have your "Nimzo-Larsen Attack" book on the shelves.

Thanks Smiley

Wow...the Nimzo-Larsen book must be close to twenty years old now....?

Yes, that was 2001, I think. Jeez.

Finished the proofs yesterday. Average turn around for production etc is about six weeks. So I guess it'll be out in January Smiley
