By Chessbase do you mean Chessbase Reader (I have 2017) or Fritz, or the "Full Monty" that costs 47 gazillion dollars?

Once you've subscribed to a section in Chess Publishing, you have access to the games therein and can play through them and read the annotations when logged in on the Chess Publishing site.  You can also download the games as a set of PGN files.  I've checked Fritz 17 and ChessBase Reader (2013), and they can both open the PGN files downloaded from Chess Publishing.  Thus, you don't need ChessBase to review the games and annotations.  (You can even load an engine to analyze a position).  However, Fritz and CB Reader don't have all of the functionality of the "Full Monty".  For example, I didn't find any Search function in my version of CB Reader, which means it isn't as easy as it would be in ChessBase to look for games arising from a specific variation or position.

To address one of the questions in your original post, the ebooks can be downloaded to your PC.  They're available in pdf and ChessBase (CBV) formats.  I was able to open the CBV files with both Fritz and CB Reader.

Any software that can handle pgn.

You can get any one (or more) section(s) that you want, Gold just means all 12 sections (ignoring gchess and forwardchess).

Thank you very much! I will ask you et al another question if it is ok (and ok if you say no too):

By Chessbase do you mean Chessbase Reader (I have 2017) or Fritz, or the "Full Monty" that costs 47 gazillion dollars?

Also, would be grateful for Tony to chime in if some sections are Gold Sub only as I also asked.

Again, thx AOC!

GMTonyKosten should really weigh in here, but here is my quick take:

- Paypal or credit card.
- gchess.com and forwardchess.com are cross-promotions, neither one is necessary for subscribing to chesspublishing.com.
- The chesspublishing downloads need some chess software, e.g. chessbase or the like, but nothing else.

Sorting out Chess Sub options help please

Greetings!

From the Chess Theory/Subscribe page it states prices but doesn't tell me how U.S. dollar payments are accepted other than PayPal. I assume that screen comes up later under subscriptions app, but I would like to know - payment in what form if not PayPal? Also, I am not familiar with Gchess.com. Is this the only to access materials? Within the categories are Calc training, Pattern recognition, as well as Blindfold. Are these non-opening theory categories only available to Gold subs? Are eBooks independent and downloadable to my PC or only accessible on some (which?) site? Finally, I do not have the Forword Chess App, so are either it or Gchess pay sites I will have to pony up for in addition to my subs?

Hope I covered everything, but I welcome enlightenment!
