I would suggest beginning with basically an eight-center computer chip, with 16 centers presently being the perfect balance. More than 16 (for example with Threadripper Experts up to 64 centers) accompanies a solitary center presentation hit, so while delivering will be quicker, different jobs like dynamic work will begin to endure.

Number of cores to use for engine analysis

My new PC (12th gen., Intel core i5-12400 processor) has 6 cores and 12 threads, and I'm wondering what I should set 'number of cores' to for engine analysis in the Arena GUI. I have 7.7 GB usable RAM so have hash set to 2048 MB, but I'm not sure about cores, since I don't know if I should be leaving one or two free for other computer processes? Or does that apply only to threads, which in any case are not set separately in Arena? I like to analyse in Demo mode (i.e. engine plays itself) with a 40/120 time limit, but also in Infinite mode of course. All advice gratefully received!
