Aha! You have found a fix!
Just take this:

http://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/chess/YaBB.pl?num=1090841423/150#150

Copy link, paste to Word or Notepad, Sub "http://" with "https://", copy and paste into a new tab and hit enter. Works!
As you stated. What if you just click on MNb's link than edit "150#150" to "1#1" in the address bar (without any notepad blah, blah)? You get this:

http://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/chess/YaBB.pl?num=1090841423/1#1

Now you can read from the beginning of the thread, just in reversed order. But, as you also said...

Wouldn't it be easier to read the posts in the wrong order?

I can only answer: easier but not better. But that is a decision for the individual forum members to make themselves. As for poor Tony, I imagine he is already busy enough. So no gripes from me; I'm just glad to know there is a fix if desired. As always, you are ever-helpful! Thank you!

"http://" links are also reverse sorted. Needs to be "https://".

I wasn't suggesting you should fix the URLs. Wouldn't it be easier to read the posts in the wrong order? Scroll up instead of down. Sort of like looking at a black-to-move puzzle with white at the bottom. Smiley

It's up to GMTonyKosten to fix this, if he wishes. It can probably be done in the YaBB.pl, something like these two substitutions (probably could be done in one substitution, but not by me), somewhere in yabb2.pl ....

Code (Perl)
Select All
#yabb.pl
use 5.010;
use strict;
use warnings;
my $url = "http://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1090841423/150#150";
$url =~ s/^http[s]?\:\/\/www.chesspub.com/https\:\/\/www.chesspub.com/;
$url =~ s/www.chesspub.com\/cgi-bin\/yabb[0-9]?\//www.chesspub.com\/cgi-bin\/chess\//;
say $url;

$ perl ./yabb.pl
https://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/chess/YaBB.pl?num=1090841423/150#150

I see what you mean via your links, but I still have problems replacing the yabb2 with chess.
The original post where reply#4 from MNb contains a hyperlink (with 150!! replies):

https://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/chess/YaBB.pl?num=1155095105

What shows in the 2nd(new) address bar when I click on MNb's link:

http://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/chess/YaBB.pl?num=1090841423/150#150

Notice, the yabb2 is now gone. OK! let's try highlighting MNb's link to edit it. Copy link, open new tab and paste copied link into the address bar and edit yabb2 for chess. Press enter you get this:

http://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/chess/YaBB.pl?num=1090841423/150#150

The same as previously. Yet you seemed to do it ok. What am I missing? And BTW, thanks a lot for trying to help.

It seems the older links with "/yabb2/" are in reversed order, if replaced with "/chess/" then they are in forward order.

Can you paste an example hyperlink where this happens?

Revisiting the "reversed order" glitch(??) again

Greetings,

I am aware of the post on this board by Jupp, but it does not address the problem I'm having which is:

Being already logged in and reading a thread in non-reversed order, if I then click a hyperlink to jump to another thread then THAT thread is now in reversed order. At the top it offers the "Login" button, although it will remind me I'm already logged in if I click it. How can I follow a within-forum link to a different post (which will open as a new tab in my Windows 10 PC) and yet have it display in chronological order of posting? So, replies 1-5, rather than 5-1.

Also, if the How-to for this is laid-out somewhere on the site, a link to that so I need never ask again would be very appreciated.

TIA!
