No. AlphaZero, lc0, stockfish, et al happen to work well because chess is a restricted domain. ChatGPT doesn't work at all, it only seems to work because the problem domain is wide open. The LLM training process just considers what next word(s) is(are) statistically likely given the previous word(s). The so-called AI has no idea of facts or truth, but comically when challenged about facts it will err (again) on the side of consistency because staying consistent is what it sees in 100% of the training data.

Alas, it's not a new move.

Sundqvist,C (2333) - Arppi,H (2327)
FIN/SC61/F (FIN) ICCF, 13.11.2021

1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6 6.h3 e6 7.g4 Be7 8.g5 Nfd7 9.Bg2 b5 10.Nf5 exf5 11.exf5 Nb6 12.Be3 N8d7 13.Qd4 0-0 14.f6 gxf6 15.Bxa8 Nxa8 16.Nd5 Nc7 17.Rg1 Kh8 18.Nxe7 Qxe7 19.0-0-0 Qe5 20.Qxd6 Qxd6 21.Rxd6 Ne6 22.Rgd1 Ne5 23.gxf6 Nc4 24.Bh6 Nxd6 25.Bxf8 Ne4 26.Bg7+ Kg8 27.Bh6 Nxf6 28.Rd6 Ne8 29.Rc6 N6c7 30.h4 f6 31.Bf4 Bd7 32.Rxc7 Nxc7 33.Bxc7 Kf7 34.Kd2 Ke6 35.Ke3 Kd5 36.c3 Bf5 37.Bd8 Ke6 38.Kd4 Bb1 39.a3 f5 40.Bc7 h5 41.Kc5 Bd3 42.Kc6 Be2 43.Kb6 Kd5 44.Kxa6 Kc4 45.Kb6 Bg4 46.Be5 Bf3 47.Ka5 Bd1 48.Bg7 ½-½

The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

Hi there,

Recently I discovered a new move:
6.h3 e6 7.g4 Be7 8.Bg2 Nfd7 9.g5 b5 (so far line by Doknjas - Najdorf book) 10.Nf5!!

This is how chess works and very soon all other subjects in the world: human is curious and asks questions,  stockfish/chatGPT gives the answer.

The older, the better - over 2200 and still rising.

The local store I mention is a Swedish Chess Shop "Svenska Schackbutiken". They have shop in Gothenburg and are at Swedish nation events but I order from them online since it at least 400 km away from Eskilstuna. I have a discount theire as regular customer.

A 37 page .pdf sample is up here:

  https://www.debestezet.nl/catalog/images/PDF/The%20Open%20Sicilian.pdf

Amazon US says it won't be available until Oct., 2023. But other european markets say it is pre-order for May (almost over) or already out. A "local chess store", Bragesjo? I didn't know such things still existed. You are very lucky. Haha!

I'm a bit curious as to Saric's treatment of the Keres. On 6...h6 I would guess that he goes with 7. Rg1, and if 7...Nc6 8. Be3 Be7 perhaps 9. Qe2, which to my knowledge has been considered favorable for White in recent years. (That has to do with an apparent improvement [13. Nb5] on a game Karpov-Anderssson 1982, cited by old theory as unclear.)

A bit more:  Etienne Bacrot has twice (2019 and 2023) played 9. h4, which I gather is suboptimal. The recent game, against an FM in the Bundesliga, continued 9...d5 10. Bb5 Bd7 11. ed Nxd5 12. Nxd5 ed 13. g5 (incidentally this was given as dubious in ECO in 1997, the year Bacrot became a GM) hg 14. hg Rh4 15. Bxc6 (and this was given as dubious in ECO in 2002) bc 16. Qf3 (1-0 in 45).

Yes he preferes that line with 9 Qe2

After a quick look I can say the books is very ambitions and goes for attack in most lines. Like all Chessable books it has a very good layout. The book covered som lines I had never seen before vs different Sicilian. The author has also good annotations and I rate the book as 10 of 10.

As a Dragon player I can tell its the line I fear most  (9 000 with Bd4) and my prefere as white as well. I think whites position is more easy to play and the side I prefere but I belive black can hold is he knows several concrete lines that most club players will not find.

I have played lots of thematical English attack events at ICCF and the books suggestions vs h5 system is the line I found most tricky to meet.

A saw a new book at local Chess store.

The Open Sicilian : An Ambitious White Repertoire for Club by Ivan Saric

Looks like its based on a Chessable course.  Excerpt says English attack theme vs most lines.
