All in all the line 1e4 e5. 2 Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Bc5 4 d4 is not that boring. Black can also play. 4.., Nxd4 and 4.., Bxd4
What do you think?
The strange thing is that the openings repertoire books I've consulted say nothing on this variation.

Thanks for the vid!
One difference with 13...Bg4 (instead of 13...Bf5 Bh6 shown in the vid) is that on 14.Bh6, Black continues 14...Ne2+ 15.Nxe2 Bxe2 and e.g. 16.Rfe1 Bd3 17.f3 d5 18.fxe4 Bxe4 19.Rac1. Black has an extra pawn and a more active king, but if White exchanges all rooks, the  opposite-color bishop ending is likely a draw. I'd say you can play the whole line if you have something ready against 13...Bg4, either 14.Nxe4 or 14.Bh6.

After 9.Qxc5 d5, Grischuk has several games with the weird line 10.0-0 dxe4 11.c3 Qd6 12.Qxd6 cxd6 13.cxd4 Nxd4 13.Nc3 Bg4 (trapping the Rf1) 14.Nxe4 Nc2 and now both 15.Nxd6+ and 15.f3 give equal chances according to Stockfish. White won't keep his extra pawns and compensates with piece activity against the King, for a draw or more. Not easy to play OTB for both sides.

1 e4 e5. 2 Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Bc5 4 d4 exd4
5 Ng5 Nh6 6 Nxf7 Nxf7. 7Bxf7+ Kxf7

I'm sorry. This is the correct sequence of moves. In Italian C is the Knight. I was convinced that I had corrected the initials of all the pieces.

Please enlighten me,

If by "5 Cg5": you mean C(slon)g5 then how do you get 5...Ch6?

If you meant: 5 Ng5 Nh6 6 Nxf7 Nxf7 7 Bxf7+, then how do you get "7...Nxf7"?

If: 5 Cg5 h6, then how "6 Nxf7"?

It's equal and boring, especially after 8...g6 and 9...d5. It's not a gambit at all as White takes back the pawn, gives up the centre and allows Black to complete development.

Hi everyone. I would like to know what you think of the Italian gambit which is much discussed on Italian YouTube channels. especially the line
1 e4 e5. 2 Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Bc5 4 d4 exd4
5 Cg5 Ch6 6 Nxf7 Nxf7. 7Bxf7+ Nxf7  8 Qh5+ and 9 Qxc5.
Thanks
