When I was subscribing only to the French section, I had access to its archived material and was able to download it.

Thanks for the information, and the ideas.

I think the best value in all of chess is to become a gold plus member for one year. (I resubcribe annually, but that is a different story.). Not only do you get all 12 sections, but you get the archives of all past issues. They come as CBV and PGN files, and you can do a lot either way. By now, it seems that just about all openings and variations have been covered. I don't mean for this to be a hard sell, it's just that I have a lot to talk about. If you have any questions or want to know more, just let me know.

If a person subscribes to one section, do they get archived material for that section? I suspect not, but do not know.

Hi,
Non-subscribers like me can read/write on all forum sections. Sadly, less and less people come discussing on the forum, not sure fewer restrictions may help. Most players think they can get away solely with computer evaluations (might be true for corr chess), but traditional wisdom (or foolishness) is still very useful for practical games where you're on your own.
As for discussing paid content between subscribers, an idea could be to add a comments section below each subscribed game. At least, subscribers would have more feedback from column authors.

If someone subscribed to one section, would he have access to the entire forum? I don't know as I am a Gold Plus subscriber and so have access to all sections in the forum.

It seems to me that if you subscribe to one section, you should only see forum entries for that one section. For example, if you subscribe to the 1e4 e5 section only, you would only see the forum pertinent to 1e4 e5. Proceeding this way, you could feel free to discuss the latest 1e4 e5 article without concern that you are sharing published material with non-subscribers.

This could lead to a more lively forum as one would only be sharing purchased analysis with people who also purchased that analysis.
