cathexis - It's too bad Fritz doesn't have a Fischer personality that behaves as you described. That would be hilarious! 

According to recent posts on the ChessBase site, the six personalities in Fritz 19 are represented by animal avatars, such as a bull for the aggressive attacker and a fox for the swindler that plays crazy gambits. 

ChessBase also revealed details on how the trophies and trading cards work.  As stated on their site, the trophies "are awarded for particularly impressive moves or manoeuvres. After successfully mastering each theme one to ten times, you will receive the bronze, then the silver and finally the gold trophy...the trophies are accompanied by digital trading cards, which can be collected in the ChessBase account and also exchanged with other members."

I get the impression that ChessBase decided to emphasize the instructive and entertainment aspects of Fritz because it's hard to compete with Stockfish, certainly in terms of price. Thus, the program will allow occasional tactical shots to enable its human opponent to create his own "brilliancy" or provide amusement via various "personalities".  To be fair, Dragon 3.2 has various personalities as well (Active, Aggressive, Positional, etc).  Perhaps chess.com has done the best job of devising amusing characters, but the idea is an old one. Going back at least to the 1990s, I recall playing against Chessmaster 4000 personalities such as "Woodpusher" and "Tal". However, I was disappointed that the latter didn't seem to play at all like the Magician from Riga. As White, it went for the Exchange Winawer and quickly traded down to an endgame where it was slightly worse.
