No, I think it shifted to page 13. I don't remember exactly, but I do remember it wasn't in precisely the same place when I looked for it a second time. No doubt it moved from page 1 to page 14 because its own index changed. And it could creep back up as other topics change index and they move from the front to the back.

Tony - Thanks for fixing the problem!

aoc - I looked around yesterday before Tony corrected things, and unlike you, I didn't see the French Revisited topic on page 14. This was the case whether I was logged in or not. It sounds implausible, but would being the last poster on the topic affect where it appeared for me?

I've rebuilt the message index again, so hopefully all the threads will be in their correct places again ... for a while at least! Undecided

The French Defense Revisited is on page 14, a 2023/2024 topic hiding amongst the 2007 topics. If you know the exact topic name, you can sort by Subject. Although if you are not logged in then clicking on a different page resets the sort back to the default Last Post.

And now it appears that this topic is gone again, though it can be found with the Search function. I saw some comments in the latest thread in the QGA section about a topic being "missing" there and decided to check back on the one for The French Defense Revisited.

It looked like there was some maintenance done on the forum recently. Did this affect the indexing and sorting?  In looking for the French Revisited topic, I found that the entries in pages 13-17 of the French forum were not in chronological order.

I probably need to do some maintenance on the Forum, sometimes posts can end up at the wrong end because of a problem with the date. I'll do it now  Smiley

I was intending to post to the existing topic titled The French Defense Revisited but did not see it in the normal view of the French section of the forum. The topic is easily found with a search, but it still doesn't show up in the French section, even though the file hierarchy shown for the topic suggests it should be there. I seem to recall one or two other instances where I didn't see a topic I knew to exist.  In those cases, I just thought I was looking for them in the wrong place. Is there any setting I should change to see the "missing" topic, or is this just a forum idiosyncrasy that pops up occasionally?
