re Modern Chess 60% or 70% rebates: they are so frequent (esp. the 60%) that it's not worth buying otherwise, and of course it all comes down to the usual $24-28 range that is their expected sale per customer. Couple of good points tho:
- when buying 2 or more pieces, you often have an additional 10% discount, regardless of the rebate.
- for short periods they go up to 70%, without modifying the base price. They even make some math humour: I had a mail saying "Dear customer, you knew our 60% rebate, our 70% rebate, and now we have an incredible offer just for you: before our 60% rebate, we apply a 25% rebate for our best customers!" Very funny when you do the math:
- with 70% rebate, $1 becomes $1 * (1- 0.7) = $0.3 so far, so good
- with 25% rebate, $1 becomes $0.75 An extra 60% rebate makes this $0.75 * (1- 0.6) =$0.75 * 0.4 =  $0.3 Surprise!

Thanks, you know one thing with modern chess, sometimes they give a promo code and then they also discount some of the courses also (so you get a bigger discount).

And when your buying a few days based you see other discounts pop up, like discount for buying so many courses get added on too (not exactly sure but something like that).

I am a big fan of them, they have some great products.

Haha ok my black Friday list are there new tromp and French courses lol.

You are correct. The sales price is available if you use the promo code.

When I posted, there was no promo code that I could see, but it's clearly there now.

FreeRepublic - I believe that the titles on the modern-chess site aren't displaying their sale prices. In order to get the 70% Black Friday sale discount, one has to put the desired titles into the shopping cart and enter the promo code. I'll verify this when I pick up that new French Defense database by Krishnater that's the subject of discussion in the French section of the forum.

BTW - I don't recall any Black Friday sales for ChessPublishing.

I can't answer that question.

On a related note, Modern-chess sometimes has sales that provide a deep discount. As an example, they sometimes have an across the board 60% off sale. They currently have a Black Friday sale of "up to 70% off." It's not the same thing! I checked one title and there was no sale.
