Yes, it's a link. I had to wait about 10 minutes for the order to be processed. But the link is valid only for a limited time after purchase - "at least 30 days" according to the website.

As an experiment I ordered a different Everyman ebook from House of Staunton (precisely from uscfsales), and indeed it is just the .cbv file.

I still have a short list of Everyman ebooks I didn't get around to buying directly from them. On House of Staunton I can't seem to find Collins on the Reti, McDonald on Dynamic Defense or Tay on the Old Indian. But at least Kasparov's three series of game collections seem to be there - my collection of those looks like swiss cheese. Nice to know I can still get them somewhere if/when I want to plug the holes.

Small warning, unless I missrember Slaying books main recommendations lines vs Dragon was more or less refuted by Jones book when black emerged much better by force. Also note that theory has developed as well as computers.

For those who missed it there was discussion of Taylor's Dragon lines (he gives two for white) already on chesspub:

McDonalds older book "Starting out 1 e4" has a low theory approach of Open Sicilian when he played Be2 Be3 setups vs Schveningen and Najdorf with e6. Even in this book theory and computers has developed.

Thanks for your post, AOC. I will remember to include the source behind the link in text from now on. A good idea. Amazon & Ebay are my principal sources for almost all print materials and that likely won't change, especially for older stuff. The OP did not specify a preferred source, but are always welcome to pursue such on their own. Your reply was very helpful.

Answers in a link are not future-proof! For the benefit of future readers the Be2 book is Timothy Taylor Slay the Sicilian! (Everyman 2012). And it's still in print, no need for ebay. Also available on forwardchess.

Even though Popular Chess discontinued their downloadable ebooks, House of Staunton still has some for sale, including this one. I'm not sure how "complete" the House of Staunton download version is compared to the Everyman version. They say it's (only?) a chessbase file, whereas Everyman provided .epub , .cbv , .pgn , and .prc formats.

Davies, by the way, did one based on g3 rather than Be2.

yes that is the book. I thought it was either Nigel Davies, or Niel McDonald but could not find resource.

Anyway thanks for helping me with that one.

Ebay is your friend.  Wink

[Edit: There are also copies for sale on Amazon and a few in-depth reviews of it, if this is the book you meant]
