I wonder whether 8.Be2 d5 is okay for black. If not, it would seem to me that e.g. 8.Be2 0-0 9.f4 Nc6 10.Nb3 lands white in one of the typical Nb3 lines one tempo up (Bf1-c4-e2=two moves as opposed to Nb8-c6-e5-c6=3 moves).

My first thought is that h3 plus f4 (instead of 10. f3) could end up with a couple of extra tempi for White on some standard Bc4 + short castling stuff.

Does anybody know an antidote to 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 g6 5.Nc3 Bg7 6.Be3 Nf6 7.Bc4 Ne5?  Normal appears to be 8.Bb3 Neg4.  Here De la Villa gives 9.Bf4 e5 10.Ndb5 d5! 11.Nxd5 Nxd5 12.Qxd5 Qxd5 13.Bxd5 exf4 14.Nc7+ Ke7 15.Nxa8 Be5.  However, this produces no advantage for White, not that I can see, anyway.  9.Bg5 also appears not to challenge Black very much.  I wonder if Black's best might be 9.Bc1.  Does Black then have anything better than 9...O-O 10.f3 Ne5 11.Be3 d6 12.Qd2 Bd7 13.0-0-0, which I believe brings us back to a main line of the Dragon?

I apologize in advance if this has already been covered somewhere; I'm not that familiar with the Dragon forum.
