I am mostly responsible for this forum but you never know what Tony Kosten might have for me in the future Smiley

There is also another connection since ChessBattle.org project (that I manage) is sponsored by ChessPublishing.com.

Yes, I did the design and installation for this forum and partially used YaBB, which is free perl-based code. I certainly tweaked some code to make some needed changes.

If you have any suggestions about the forum or you would like to see something changed in here or some features added, feel free to let me know and we'll see what we can do.

Some users may have problems with placing their pin on the map so here you have 4 step Member-Map-How-to-do:

1) In "Info-Center" on the Forum-index page, click on your name in the "Users Online" area.
2) Scroll down and click on the "Edit Member Map" link.
3) Select/type location info and point and click on the map where you live.
4) Click on the "Save" button.

Dear forum members,

The new feature called "Member Map" has just been installed in this forum to enhance our little (or big) community. This new feature allows visualization of the locations of the members around the world and has way too many interesting and exciting views and benefits. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do Smiley

Since this installation required major programming code change of the forum, there is always a possibility of some bugs lying around. So, if you find one, please let me know asap so I can surgically remove it Smiley

IMPORTANT: After this installation, the information about your location (Country, etc.) is probably removed from your profile to clean the fields for the new feature that will enhance this functionality. So, you would need to add/update your location! Please do the following asap and see our exciting community on the world map pointed every member along with some great add-ons.

You would need TO DO the following:

1. Add your location in your profile: Click on profile in the menu on top and include location details in appropriate fields. Save your profile. After your profile is saved, you will see your profile details in the view mode.

2. Edit Member Map: Right after you saved your profile, in that profile's view mode you will see link called "Edit Member Map". Click it and pin your location on appropriate map (Select/type location info and point and click on the map where you live). Click on the "Save" button.

You are now DONE! Feel free to explore our new world and see where we all live but get together in this forum!

Description and benefits of new "Member Map" feature:

This feature let members mark their location on a Map and type City/Location and select State/Region and Country. The info is saved and will appear in the members profile as City, State/Region, Country. Members can edit the map-entry from their Profile-view. Guests and members can view the members location from Profile-view. Everybody can view the total Member Map from the menu and open a members Profile by clicking on a Pin. View location in Posts as flag and text. If a member has "plotted" location on the Member Map the flag will link to the members map.

Enjoy!
