Uh, 9. Qd2 transposes to an old main line, after which both sides can play various reasonable ways during the next 50 or so moves.

On 9. Qd2 Black can play play this way.

Nxb5+ 40. Rxb5 Rc7+ 41. Kb3 Re3+ 42. Ka4 Re4+ 43. Rb4 Re2 44. a6 Rd7 45. Rb6 f5 46. d6 Kf6 47. Kb5 Rb2+ 48. Kc6 Rxd6+ 49. Kxd6 Rxb6+ 50. Kc7 Rxa6 51. Rxa6+ Ke5 52. Rxg6 Kd4 53. Rd6+ Ke5 54. Kc6 f4 55. Rd7

As long as the bishop isn't exchanged, he can't mate you down the h file, so why worry?

probably black should try to transpose to 9.g4 with 8...Nc6 but if white don't play 9.Qd2 then I think on:
a) 9.h4 Qb6 is good for black
and on
b) 9.g5 Nh5

It seems that it will only transpose but what if it doesn't.

A certain expert played this against me and I felt oblged to play normally yet he then played 9.h4 and it started to look iffy, he did eventually play Qd2, but for a while it was scary. We ended in a draw with there being moves that he could have made better. Since this was in a speed game I think both of us cold have made better moves along the way. I was wondering if anyone had encountered this hyper-attack, as unsound (or transpositional) as it probably is.
