but this is splitting words. I think we all get MNb's point!
In the same sense as the Hübsch being a bust to the BDG I would say that the Petroff is a bust to the Ruy Lopez, because to get to Spain you first have to avoid the draw against Petroff.
Anyway I would like to see a convincing reply for White to the line I recommend to Black players: 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nc3 d5 3.e4 (What is this then: a BDG or a Hübsch?Apparently Black decides with his next move, so the two openings are not completely different.) 3...Nxe4 (3...dxe4 4.f3 = BDG)4.Nxe4 dxe4 5.Bc4 c5!
I have heard of 5.Bf4, but really...

Actually, there is 1.e4 e6  2.Qe2 e5 3.f4 which even conservative, 'vegetarian' white players seem to like!  Cheesy

This is not entirely true. 1.d4 Nf6 2.f3 d5 3.e4 avoids the Hübsch Gambit too. But it is very understandable, that White prefers 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nc3 above 2.f3 c5!?

This is simply a ridiculous statement. After having several phone conversations with NM Chuck Diebert, it seems that as a BDG player the most concerning lines have to do with the huebsch. Whether or not you believe the validity of the theoretical categories imposed by this forum as a "bust to the BDG" is largely irrelevant, as the BDG player must be prepared for this countergambit either way.

As LDZ is an expert on these gambits, he must be aware of the fact, that White sometimes allows the Hübsch Gambit to avoid the Lviv Defence 1.d4 d5 2.e4 dxe4 3.Nc3 e5.
So comparing this with "The French being the refutation of the King's Gambit" is beside the point - I have never seen a game, in which White tried to transpose to the KG via the French.
So I wonder, who is smart after all?

Wow.  Think you are all so smart? Nope! You all overlooked one important thing: THE HUEBSCH GAMBIT AND THE BLACKMAR-DIEMER GAMBIT ARE TWO DIFFERENT OPENINGS!!

1 d4 d5 2 e4 de4 3 Nc3 Nf6 4 f3  BDG

1 d4 Nf6  2 Nc3 d5 3 e4 Nxe4 4 Nxe4 de4 

THUS, THE HUEBSCH GAMBIT CANNOT BE A "BUST" TO THE BDG BECAUSE... IT'S A TOTALLY DIFFERENT OPENING!!

Or would you say the French Defense is a "bust" to the King's Gambit?

Of course not!

Oh I see, sorry fellas! One more "same time thinking". Hehe sorry my friend but I am not a prenium member and I did not watch the game. Also you did not mention between which players was this game, so I could not find it in another site such as www.chessgames.com. In a ps note I said I understood that the actual game may have been played like that, so propably the paternity does not belong to me, even though I still found it by myself that move onboard. But stil  Sad +  Smiley for the reasons in my previous post  Grin

I appreciate the effort and it is my fault, because I should have posted the moves. 

THE HUEBSCH COUNTER-GAMBIT


1.d4 Nf6 2.Nc3 d5 3.e4 Nxe4 4.Nxe4 dxe4 5.Bc4 Nc6 

this is the line in question.

Traditional theory advocates:

6.c3 e5 7. d5 Ne7 8. f3 Nf5 (G.M Prie's move advocated as a bust to the Blackmar Diemar Gambit) 9. Bb5 Bd7 10. Bxd7 Qxd7 11.fxe4 Nd6 12. Nf3 (My move but I.M Lane advocates 12.Qe2)

I don't believe that  8. f3 is the best response, and I have been looking at 8.Qb3!? 

Its an open forum so lets put our heads together.

Human intuition rulez again!!! Take that fritz:

1. d4 d5 2. e4 dxe4 3. Nc3 e5 4. Qh5 Nc6 5. dxe5 g6 6. Qg5 Be7 7. Qf4 f5 8.
exf6 Nxf6 9. Nxe4 Nxe4 10. Qxe4 Nb4 11. Bg5 Bf5 12. Bb5+ c6 13. Qe5 Rf8 14. Rd1
Nxc2+ 15. Ke2 Qxd1+ 16. Kxd1 O-O-O+ 17. Bd2 Bd6

I found out shortly that giving away the queen for the initiative with 13..Rf8! is the best response. Black gets the initiative, constant pressure and material compenastion. I just hope that the actual game wasn't played this way so I don't talk too much for nothing hehe

PS The more I look the refutation on the d4-specials section, the more I start to believe that the game went like this Sad + Smiley

I hate it when a stupid machine finds a refutation instead of a human but I was not given the chance to look at the position as it moved immediately (by the way I hope this is the variation you asked). Ofcourse it requires too much skill for someone to find a fischer-like 12.Bb5+!  Smiley

1. d4 d5 2. e4 dxe4 3. Nc3 e5 4. Qh5 Nc6 5. dxe5 g6 6. Qg5 Be7 7. Qf4 f5 8.

Some advocate this as the bust to the Blackmar Diemar, but it seems that if any of the defenses have a chance then this may be it.

I was wondering if any other Blackmar Diemar Gambit players are working on this variation?
