To the question of diagrams.. I think it was Neil in another thread that explained how to easily attach diagrams as a picture provided you had a "personal site" to post it first.  Perhaps Chess Pub could provide a certain amount of space to its MEMBERS for the purpose of posting these diagrams.  It could then be controlled by Chess Pub as far as formatting.  The amount of space provided would be based on activity of posting....thus MNB, Alumbrado, Smyslov_fan etc. etc. would have much more space provided than someone like myself who reads & follows more than they contribute.  As to the technical problems of my idea, Hey I'm just a user  Wink

Can't you simply hit the 'Home' button on your keyboard to go back to the top, and there is also the Forum Jump box at the bottom right to go straight to another board or section. Wink
I don't think the last ten posts thing has changed at all, I certainly can't find anything to change this in the Admin center. Undecided

Not sure whether or not someone has mentioned this but would it be possible to put a copy of the 'Home', 'Help', etc. buttons (shown at the top of the page) at the bottom as well - just a bit annoying that if you reach the very bottom of the page of posts, you then have to scroll back up to the top to the 'Home' button.

I'd like to note that the basis of the Most Recent Posts page seems to have changed. If I'm not mistaken, this used to work on the basis of only the most recent post from an individual thread being shown, whereas now the selection is purely chronological even if thid means that several threads from one post are shown. I think this is worse -- what do others think.

I'm still not able to make my Preview function work when posting -- does anyone else have this problem or am I alone?

Finally and most importantly, I'd like to thank Tony for all the hard work and thoughtfulness he's putting into the new Forum -- it's noticed and appreciated!

Glad the forum is back and it looks very good indeed. I am convinced the diagram problem will be solved sooner or later.
But I miss the national flag (in my case of Suriname) and the map?

As you will soon notice, there are all sorts of neat new functions with this version of the software (and it looks prettier!), but one quite major one is the ability to attach files with messages and emails. Smiley
At the moment it is not turned on, but we can quite easily do this, so my question is:
Would Forum members find this function useful? If yes, what attachments would you want to post, .pgn for example? Questioning

There should be absolutely no problem with attaching pgn files. Thousands of them circulate every day on the internet without mishap. I'm all for it.

I can imagine that a Macro would set off virus warnings and blockage in Norton and other antivirus programs.  Undecided

Maybe somekind of javascript? Palview seems to be able to create viewable games online by just converting a pgn file, and a diagram function would only need a fraction of that code I suppose. Still, some one would have to do it too...  Smiley

Clearly this is always going to be a problem with fonts then, so perhaps we should go down the GIF route? I could write a little Word macro to convert a standard diagram output into links to our GIF pieces, but then everyone would have to have Word installed to use the macro, can anyone think of a better solution?

I already had the font installed, but I still don't see the diagrams. But if I copy one of them and paste into Word - then it shows (but looks rather awful at least the squares look strange). Any idea why it only shows in Word?

I emailed Eric Bentzen at enpassant and he suggested using either the Chess Merida or Chess Alpha fonts, here is a position from my last game in Chess Merida, size 18:

1222222223
Çt+t+-L-+5
Æ+-+-+o+q5
Åo+-O-+m+5
Ä+-+p+o+-5
Ã-P-+p+-+5
ÂV-+-+-+r5
Áp+w+-+pP5
À+-+-+rK-5
7ÈÉÊËÌÍÎÏ9

and the same in bold:

1222222223
Çt+t+-L-+5
Æ+-+-+o+q5
Åo+-O-+m+5
Ä+-+p+o+-5
Ã-P-+p+-+5
ÂV-+-+-+r5
Áp+w+-+pP5
À+-+-+rK-5
7ÈÉÊËÌÍÎÏ9

it looks a lot better than the Fritz/Chessbase ones to me, but to see it you will need the Merida font from http://www.enpassant.dk/chess/fonteng.htm.
