One has to be very careful when interpretting signs from the Almight.  It could mean something like no no no no BDG.  Or "n" could stand for never or ....

You can't avoid it, but is it a big problem? ..a5 is another tempo lost, just to exchange the bishop. You can for example (long)castle and after ..Ba6, Bxa6 Nxa6 and you can open the game with a better developpment with a move like d5! where Black are behind in developpment, have weakness in light squares and a knight on a6 misplaced. Really, a plan like ..b6, ..a5, ..Ba6 can't be dangerous for White, and most of players with Black seems to understand this: they never play it, maybe just in blitz...

I see a problem in early h6 lines, but well, in principle, the bishop should retreat but not on h4 but he needs to stay on c1-h6 diagonal in case of black is continuing with 0-0 plan. In case of Ng4 something like Bg1. It is not as easy as in standard lines but I think the only reason is that white has to develop his attack in a bit slower pace. That´s all.

b6-Ba6 seems to be no worry. Bd3 - Qe2 setup is ok. Qe2-f2-h4 possible. or Bd3-Qe4.

Yes I see what you mean, it is hard to find a real target here, but you don't have to be too much hurry to crack Black's position. Just improve the position of your pieces, if he is still "waiting", you can play a move like Kh1 which is usefull, and prepare your actives pieces to fight. If he castles, he could be killed by the attack, and if he doesn't, he is not developped as well as White. But I agree, it's not easy, it requires patience.

2) the Euwe (again) when black play a rapid ...b6 followed by ...Ba6 in order to exchange the attacking white Bd3 ! Do you see a problem as i do , or not ?

You can play Qe2 which is a move often played in the Euwe, and here it prevents from a ..Ba6. You can play it immediately after a ..b6 if you are affraid of it. But maybe it depends of the moves orders?

Well ! I have understood chess by playing the BDG more than any other way ! But, i have to confess that from time to time, i have my doubt about it ... But i keep on playing it among other openings ...
For the moment, my doubts are about :
1) the Euwe def. when black plays ... h6 before castling (very important) ! Very ennoying ! Where can i find some ideas to cope with this annoying black way of play ? Do you agree with me about this black way of play ?   Undecided
2) the Euwe (again) when black play a rapid ...b6 followed by ...Ba6 in order to exchange the attacking white Bd3 ! Do you see a problem as i do , or not ?   Undecided

This is the first piece of commonsense I´ve seen written about this BDG! If you enjoy a bit of fun by all means play it, but be under no illusions...

Man yall ive been gone for a minute and not much has improved. Thank you all who posted actual lines. I really do appreciate it and i wish i had the ability to delete the ravings of a certain individual.

Also i would like to make a comment on the law issue. Laws are great and all but in running a country and other little governments. But the moderators of a forum are the law. Thats why they are moderators. They are here to make sure things dont get out of hand. I happen to be on another site i enjoy my work. So far we have only had one little argument which was theoretical and we settled it like gentleman. Showing games and analyisis. We didnt play one game against each other. We simply supported our thoughts.

If we did play an OTB game. The more prepared player would win. And if we both worked hard enough it would end in a draw or maybe because i have a couple pawns a slight edge for black. Dont get on me about saying its refuted. If I believed that I wouldnt play the BDG. I dont think its 100% sound but as was stated earlier its full of traps and pit falls which need to be avoided. The attacks can be rather quick for white. And this makes it an attractive mistress. Is it good for white with "Best" play? No!

"Best"= to the highest possible degree

I love the gambit but i am also not blind.

peace to all.

Hope that this thread continues to grow even if it grows slowly. No one has been here in a minute lol.

Chess is not a casino, MNb. Ooh boy, casino, ha-ha-ha!!  Chess is an intellectual game!   Grin Grin Cheesy Grin

As for analyses... I will put up the analyses in my own good time.  Right now I am tied up with school. Also, I am managing the Rutgers-Newark Program Board Special Election.

Analyzing takes time and effort. Right now, my time is limited, so you will have to wait  a bit.

Since LDZ refuses to give improvements on Craig's and ArKhein's analysis, I must assume, that for LDZ chess is a casino game.  Wink

Should I be the one to point out to Lev that chesspublishing is a European site?  British to be particular, and hence his whole constitution rants are worthless.  Doesn't matter what his opinions are.  It's British.  US laws have no application.

Not to mention, that freedom of speech only shields you from government pro(per)secution, not from other things. So if Chesspublishing decides to delete all BDG threads (here's hoping) there is nothing legally wrong with it.

Deleting BDG threads would be a double standard, not too mention ethically wrong. If you want to delete files, you have to delete all other openings too. Just because someone does not like an opening does not give you any right to delete it. That is censorship.

As for your so-called 'refutation' in the Zilbermints Gambit,  there is none. Since Craig Evans  refused to play in a fair, long-time-control match, I must assume all this 'refutation analyses' will not be easy to recall in OTB chess.

Looks good, white can't trade queens.  Qg2 Qg6 and what does white have?

Rxd7 is classical in theses lines, so the immediate seems to be winning, for example : 13.Rxd7 Kxd7 14.Bc4 Kc8(other moves doesn't save) 15.Rd1! +- (15..Nc5 16.Bxc5 cxb5 17.Bd5+- or 15..cxb5 16.Bf4 wins the queen)

13.Bc4 is also winning because it is still followed by a Rxd7 :
    13..e6? Rxd7!+-
    13..f6(and f5) Rxd7 +-

You see what happend when the one with Black pieces underestimate White's initiative for 2 pawns (contrary to the Zilbermints gambit, a refutation have not been found yet) Smiley

So anyway,

I'm sure you've got an improvement there Arkhein Wink  Let's hear it.
