1.d4 d5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3.f3 c5! is a bit like the Veresov. 3.Qd3 is in the spirit of the Veresov too. I don't know without what Black should play, maybe 3..c5 too or 3..e6 might be a sort of French defense maybe, where White has played Qd3. But 1.d4 d5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3.Bg5 Nbd7 4.Qd3 here is really interesting and has been played by GM Hector a few time with success.

What about 1.d4 d5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3.f3 preparing e4? My database claims that White scores a dismal 39%.

Even better is 3.Qd3! preparing either a tricky queen manoeuvre or a timely e4. White's score of 53% is impressive considering that White's average rating was 2218 compared to Black's average rating of 2270.

You get me wrong. I no more deny that BDG is possible than I deny  people the thrill of playing Sunday League pub football. After a full morning drinking.

If you don't believe that BDG is a part of chess, just leave this section and go elsewhere, we don't need you.

True. Mere idle whimsy.
Wasn't much chess here anyway. Minimal loss to chess theory.
Gambit may find that others have also not been entirely serious. But perhaps not.

I am finding it difficult to grow tomatoes. David - tips?

Shop at a nursery near where you live. they should know what grows in your area. Buy grafted plants. They cost more but grow bigger and crop heavily. Tomatoes love compost, animal manure and blood and bone. They also like lots of sun. Do not grow them in the same spot two years in a row. Try and grow beans in spots where you intend to grow tomatoes.

Now to start a thread on another gambit.

The last 15 messages have nothing to do with BDG or even chess. Please, don't forget that here is a chess forum, if you want to talk about everything there is another place for that.

Yipiyahyeh! BDG is not chess - maybe its a kind of "pre"chess thing?  Grin

Did Gambit's thought process take him from discussion of fruit and veg to sex? By jove.
In the light of an obscene poem that wasn't deleted quickly enough, perhaps. But everyone to their own I guess.
Bring out the gimp and his artichokes.

Thanks David - I find that one can never know too much about parrots. Will come in considerably more useful than study of BDG.

David Flude,

You live in Australia, right? That continent has drought problems, as I heard and read. Uhmmm... But I think Aussie women are really hot chicks, right? Cool Grin And they are  absolutely hot and gr-reat at hot sex while playing chess, right?

Rosellas are parrots that are coloured a mixture of red blue and yellow or green.

As for this story about the chicks I have heard a similar story about the sheilas from a different country. I will  not confirm or deny whether it is true.

I don't see what this has to do with the BDG, but at least the "i'm right", "no i'm right", "no you know nothing", "you're just biased" garbage is long gone.

David,

Hugely impressive. You must be nearly self-sufficient. Not sure I'd know a cumquat if it bit my rear, but a splendid array.

What is a rosella btw?
And well done those owls.
