The next time I hear the word "cowardly" coming from Lev's lips, I will be checking with the bosses to see whether I can edit the post to delete it. It's getting stupid now, and I must confess rather agitating -  a shame, because I generally enjoy discussing these lines.

5...c6 is a good defence. Why not play something else? Because it would be inferior, Lev. Just because you find a line which causes you trouble, don't call it cowardly, just accept that it's a good move. Good moves often cause trouble against dubious play, and if you continue to play dubious gambits then you'll have to accept that. It's not a coward's way out, it's playing to win. Black's a pawn up, and he plays to show that he can just adopt a normal set-up and that white has not got enough for his material - the fact is, he's correct to do so. Deal with it.

I went over the sampler, which turns out to be the cowardly 5...c6, the Ziegler Defense. My take on it is that  White made some inaccuracies early on. Let's take a look:

1 d4 d5 2 e4 de4 3 Nc3 Nf6 4 f3 ef3 5 Nxf3 c6

The coward's way out: Pretending to play a Caro-Kann. Why not try the Bogoljubow Defense, 5...g6, the Euwe, 5...e6, or the Gunderam, 5...Bf5 ?
Instead, we see a cowardly line.

6 Bd3 Bg4 7 Be3 e6

The correct way to play this is to gambit a second pawn: 7 h3! Bxf3 8 Qxf3 Qxd4
9 Be3, transposing to the Seidel-Hall Attack lines.

Cowardice must be met with bayonet attacks, accurate play to ensure that
a coward does not beat  the Blackmar-Diemer with 5...c6.

Hi all Andrew Martin has a DVD advertised on the Chessbase web site. It has a sampler on how to beat the BDG. I am having difficulties downloading this sampler. please could someone post the line he gives so that 
I can check my archives and post an antidote if one exists.
