As a budding psychologist (Whatever one of those is exactly), it is intriguing to try and come up with an explanation as to what makes BDG followers spill over into fanaticism. Sadly, even in my two and a half years of psychological study, I have yet to come up with anything suitable as an explanation.
Maybe it is as simple as the General Melchet suggestion that if all else fails, "a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through!"
If there are any better qualified psychologists out there, I would be interested to hear from them!
Well Hopper, first of all, before you ruin your psychology career;
BDG lovers beeing fanatics is two subjective statements (the correlation and the valuation), not facts, so if you do apply a theory about fanatism on BDG lovers, it will tell more about your limited research knowledge than BDGérs in general.
The problem at this stage is; why do people
think that BDGérs are fanatics?
A thesis could relate to extraversion or agression theory. A person may have a direct personality, as the BDG, and therefore also communicates, in f.x. this forum, very right on target. That would explain why some people in a case of a BDG lover leaving a message, feels that the message relates to the BDG, and others who like the BDG, and why you´ll never find a "Caro-Kann fanatic".
I don´t find it very hard to understand that people are passionate about what they like. If that is sick behavior - what does that make all those who are fanatic about NOT liking BDG lovers? That´s sick.
Another thesis could be that if the BDG is so disliked, it makes a good reason to like it.
