Actually I've just discovered that the host limits outgoing emails to 200/hour, and after this they just get stopped! Roll Eyes

Host?  Huh

The server or SpamAssassin's server end? From what you'd said earlier, you don't use a hosting service.

Oh, I don't think I have received any thread notifications either, for that matter, I will check it out.

It seems to date back to when I put SpamAssassin on the Forum webmail account! Could it be stopping outgoing messages? Huh

Personally, I haven't received any notifications of posts to threads to which I'm contributing since 11 December.

As I'm not a subscriber, I don't know when the "Updates" notification issue began!?

[I trust that the other information I PMed you was useful?]

The "updates" notification problem began when some OS files were updated.
Yes, thanks, the other info was very useful! Smiley

Maybe I misunderstood, but I assumed TN referred to the email notifications for the ChessPublishing updates, not for the posts here. Undecided
regarding Mods, I have only been checking on the YaBB 2.2 mods page (http://www.boardmod.org/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=beta_y22) and these particular ones haven't appeared yet.

No, and this is the first time that I can remember anyone being more than a month late. Sad

I trust that the contributors aren't suffering the same problem!? Are they sending their updates but they're not getting through!?

I can only assume that it's a case of the mods being reinstalled, following the forum's upgrade to 2.2.

I went to the Yabb site > Add Ons > Yabb Mods link and found the following two mods having searched for "notification".

[To reassure yourself that these links are genuine, I suggest that you go to the Yabb site, http://www.yabbforum.com/, and follow the links I've indicated to find these mods.]

"Mod Name: Notify On New Post
Version: 1.0
Required YaBB:      1 Gold - Service Pack 1.3.2
Uploaded: 12.10.04
Author:      TOM NASON (aka BoardHacker)
File: Notify_On_New_Pos[...] http://www.boardmod.org/mods.php?dl=684&filename=Notify_On_New_Post.zip
Downloads: 1028

Description: This mod provides you with the ability to notify users via email of new posts. You populate a setup text file once with the desired recipients and it notifies that list everytime there's a new post. This also subscribes all those on the list to that thread and will continue to notify them of replies until they 'opt-opt' via the notifications screen.

Benefits:
* Alerts all users in list of new posts
* Admin controls list
* Can point to an email group in a global address book for easy addition/removal of users
* Adds all users in list to notification of new thread

Mod Name: Notify on New Posts
Author: TOM NASON (aka BoardHacker)
Date: September 2004
Yabb Version: Created and tested on YaBB 1 Gold - SP 1.3.2

Known to be compliant with the following Mods (everything else unknown but very likely to be compliant)
- File Attachment 2.5
- Post Field Check

Mod Name: Notify Once
Version: 2.0
Required YaBB: 1 Gold - Service Pack 1/1.1/1.2/1.3
Uploaded: 06.08.03
Author:      BHRA Webmaster
Filename: notify_once_2.zip http://www.boardmod.org/mods.php?dl=650&filename=notify_once_2.zip
Downloads: 1264

Description: Tired of receiving an email everytime someone replied to a message you're watching? Then try the new and improved "Notify Once"!

No longer will your inbox be flooded with almost identical emails - instead receive a single message saying one or more users have replied.

New in version 2.0:
1...Javascript confirmation added to notify links.
2...Board level notification of new topics.
3...Admin options to select notification type [none/notify on every post/notify once/user selectable] for both reply and new topic notification.
4...The "User Selectable" option allows users to specify if they want to receive individual emails for each new post/reply via the notifications page.
5...Administrators can change this setting via the user's profile.
6...Compatibility added with Poll mod and Rebuild Message Index.
7...Lots of other cosmetic and fun stuff!

Note: This mod is still incompatible with notify plus!"

Kindest regards,

Dragan Glas

worse still a lack of email notifications when they do eventually come out

The email notification thing doesn't work anymore, since an operating system update, but I think I've found someone who will be able to fix it.

Tony
I dont know - are posts usually late? Only became a member one year ago, so dont know what passed before, but I have been somewhat surprised at the frequency of mishaps.

Good to see that Hansen is still around, if belated. Guess his efforts got caught up in the early Christmas post.

Like TN I feel overall this is not too impressive. Nevertheless, new year coming and let's hope things move onwards, upwards and all that.

Festive regards

Tardy Updates and worse still a lack of email notifications when they do eventually come out, and no I'm not interested in RSS feeds for reasons expressed in a related thread.

Things are going from bad to worse fast and I am growing weary.

TN Sad

I don't really see the point in starting new threads about the same subject. Or is there going to be a new one for each month?
