A Books section might have some potential, where threads could be devoted to discussion/review of a specific chess book or to recommendations for a specific type of book (game collection, tactics, positional play, attack, defense, etc.).  Although the discussion of books covering specific openings or endgames are probably better suited for already existing sections, this still leaves plenty of books for the new section.  Most of us have fairly large chess libraries (viz. http://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1211373932) and virtually all of us have fairly strong opinions about the books we've read (or written!).  With uncharacteristic decorum, I'll refrain from making any facetious suggestions as to who might moderate this forum.  

IMO, the other options (Tournaments and Improvement) seem well enough covered within the "General Chess" section.

There is already a section of the Forum for endgames, but your suggestion of book reviews is a good idea. Perhaps the title could be simplified to "chess books", but the idea is the same.

I'll start with a poll for the new sections "Tournaments", "Improvement" and "Books".

Dom - didnt like Bangkok myself, tho wasnt there for chess. Hot, humid, busy, dirty city. Traffic is nightmarish - as horrendous as eg Athens.

I think a good case could be made for a section on "Chess Improvement". Lots of good advice is given in the general section and becomes lost because of the high number of threads in that section. And invariably the same questions are asked again and the same advice given again....or not.

I'm happy with the idea if members will find it useful.
