Current results for the poll:

11 members want the new sections "Improvement" and "Books" in the forum, whereas 8 members want the new section "Tournaments" in the forum.

So, when are we planning to officially include these new sections in the Forum?

As long as the total number of subfora is manageable, I don't see much downside, and the upside is that it makes it easier to hunt down info, since the Search function seems a bit flakey (or maybe its just me...)

I agree that there are already a number of threads on improvement in the General Chess forum. However, to me that is more a reason to have a new section titled "Improvement" rather than a reason not to. If a number of members want to discuss how to improve in chess, then why not create a new section specifically for that purpose?

I agree with you that ChessPub doesn't need to have a new section. However, I don't see any reason not to, and it would make it easier to locate posts on the topics of books, improvement or tournaments. Besides, with over 1400 members now, I think the Forum would benefit if the number of sections was increased (there are 400+ threads in the "General Chess" section already).

I have completed a poll for the possible new sections for the forum. I have set the poll so that voters can choose more than one option.

I agree with at least one of Bibs' suggestions, that a section for book reviews would be very welcome. These tend to appear sporadically in the existing areas for the various openings and if they could be linked/collected into an area of their own may provide a valuable resource for many readers such as myself who are hopelessly addicted to buying said tomes.

Yes, it will be useful...for many reasons but I will only give two:

- advertising for some "unknown" tournaments (for example, Bangkok's tournament in April 2008 was completely ignored among many websites, ChessBase and co, ... I know, due to careless people: players, organizers who did'nt publish games and so on....sad because it's main event for chess in Thailand)

- publishing recent games on various openings

Hello,

Do you think that a new section titled "Tournaments" under the "Other" section should be included in the ChessPub forum? This section could be used to discuss tournament games and/or results, whereas the General Chess section would have the same purpose at it does at the moment. 

What is your opinion of this idea?
