Well why wouldn't this variation be playable for black? But I do enjoy the positions arising from this defense for white.

Yesterday I got DW Flank openings. This variation is discussed there in depth. Still did not have time to check all variations but seems quite playable for Black. At least avoids boring typical english structures. Just in case in NIC YB 71 there was an article on this by Raetsky. he also thinks that the system is playable for Black and there is a room for inventions.
As a conclusion - this variation suits my needs. All is about understanding chess and hard analysis work.
Looking for fresh games in the variation  Smiley

...and then an interesting position arises after 4...d5 5. cd cd and e.g. 6. Qb3 Nc6, which is said to be described at length in the recent "Dangerous Weapons : Flank Openings". Bedtime now !

English Opening Keres Variation

Currently I am spending some time researching the following variation: 1.c4 e5 2.g3 c6. Black later follows with Nf6, e4 and d5 in various move order depending on the white's plan. My research showed that Black obtains a good counterplay and the position is unclear with mutual chances. At least it is not typical english boring structure.
Would be interested to hear your opinion about this setup from black's point of view.
