I dont know the book, but I think the real question is: "Is this a good opening?"

I think this is the only opening where 2...f6 is a good move for Black - perhaps even more (eg. 3.Bh4 Nh6! looks good and 3.Bf4 may run into ...e5 sometime). Besides Black can play 2...c6, 2...h6, probably 2...c5 and even 2...Nf6 transposing to a Tromp.

It may have some surprise value - but just to play out of idea and not to study with White (I wouldnt  )
