One quick question about the English (why Nf3 ?)

I have been looking into adding/changing my (d4) repertoire for White, as I have not yet found something comfortable. I have already gotten great responses about that in the d-Pawn Specials forum. When looking at alternatives, I came across the English. I remember the English as being c4, with no Nf3 or Bg2, but that seems to be all the rage now. Why ?

I mean, if one wants to fianchetto the king bishop, why not play the King's Indian ? The Nf3 English does not look English at all. What happened to the English English ? (no pun intended)

For the record - I searched the forum and read posts about Bagirov advocating Nc3. I do not know much about the English, and am not sure about the variations. Many (internet) sources have no info about the English being anything more than a Catalan with no d4...
