Ok,

I'm playing the suggested lines now based on a little study of the referred games.

Thanks for this!

The Sharpest Sicilian (first edition) gives 1. e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4.d3 Nc6..
...5. Bb3 Bg4 6.c3 e6 etc (Najer-Efimenko, Sochi 2006)
...5. c3 a6!? 6.Bb3 Bg4 7. Nbd2 e6 8.h3 Bh5 etc (Panbukchian-Cheparinov, Pleven 2005)

Comparable to a major line in the Moscow/Rossolimo (2...d6 3. Bb5+ Nc6 4. 0-0 Bd7 5. c3 Nf6 6. Re1 a6 7. Bf1 Bg4 8. d3 e6 etc.).

Thanks to both.

I have to build an economic repertoire.

Therefore I have to study an unique system to both lines (with d3 or d4) based on e6 setup (giving up the kingside fianchetto as I done before).

My few experiences with the e6 setup have not been very successful.

Can somebody give me some ideas on how to play it with back against d3 ?

Thanks again!

Bc4 is a dangerous try against early ...d6, and is almost always met by ...e6, e.g. 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4. Nc3 e6.  Now if White insists on d4, Black can get an improved Sozin by developping the Kingside, forcing Bb3 in view of possible...Nxe4, and then Na6-c5 controls the white squares one tempo ahead of Najdorf's ...a6.

Case in point : after 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4. Nc3 e6! 5.d4 cd 6.Nxd4 Be7 7.Bb3 0-0 8.Be3 Na6! (see diagram)

...Black's next 9...Nc5 is an improved Sozin. Sometimes White tries to deviate with 7.a3 0-0 8.Ba2, but both ...Nc6 or ...a6,b5,Bb7 give Black a good game. All this is conventional wisdom and clearly explained in e.g. Golubev's Sozin "bible" book.

For me it is 3. Bc4 e6 and play may transpose to the 6. Bc4 Najdorf.

Some times though White follows up with 4. Nc3 and then I prefer to use a Kan/Taimanov move-order (but I then switch to Nf6): 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. Bc4 e6 4. Nc3 a6  5.d4 cxd4 6. Nxd4 Qc7 7. Bb3 Nf6 and then develop usually in a classical manner (Nc6/Bd7/Be7) or maybe sth like: 8. O-O Be7 9. Re1 Nc6 10. f4 Na5 (if White plays for f4-f5, but you first manage to swap Bb3, you can safely play e5 a la Najdorf and support it with b5 (or b6) and Bb7)..

1. e4 c5 2. Knf3 d6 3.Bc4 for najdorf player

Hello,

I am a Najdorf player.
I have to face often the above line with black.
The line I was playing is for example 1. e4 c5 2. Knf3 d6 3.Bc4 Knf6 4. d3 g6 5. 00 Bg7, etc.

But some players use to play 4. Kn c3.
Against my reply 4. g6, they force me to play a dragon after 5.d4.

So was the most accurate line for a thrue Najdorf player against the 3.Bc4 line (not a Najdorf / Scheveningen player) ?  Smiley

Thanks.
