	Call it Trompowsky defense! I play Tromp against 1...Nf6 with good success. Played ovr 100 games with 2200 perrformance (much highe than my rating). But against 1...d5, its too passive for white. Black has a free game and probably upper hand. I played it aroun 8-10 times from black side with all wins except one draw.

	For what it's worth, Plaskett seems to regard 5...Bf5 6.c4 e6 as the safest. This does at least look more interesting for White than the London System.

	I don't care what opening we're talking about, but if White has to play Qc1 on move 5, something is very wrong with this opening.

	I was discussing the position after 1.d4 d5 2.Bg5 h6 3.Bh4 c6 4.Nf3 Qb6 5.Qc1 with someone down the pub last night (as you do). We decided that 4.Nf3 was slightly more difficult to face than 4.e3 for Black in terms of taking over the initiative. After 5.Qc1 it seems that 5..Bf5 gives Black a comfortable position. And that perhaps 5..g5/6..g4/7..Qxd4 was ambitious but perhaps too loosening. Does this sound about right? What is thought to be the best line after 5.Qc1.
