I have just got The sniper by Charlie Storey.
I the book he looks at some dragon games and some acc dragon games. I do not think he has studiet the (acc) dragon for a long time, as some of his comments are strange
Trying to be positive, we can say that it is new eyes on the dragon.
After the moveorder 1.e4 g6 2.d4 Bg7 3.Nc3 c5 4.Nf3 cxd4 5.Nxd4 Nc6 6.Be3 Nf6 7.Bc4 d6
(Normal acc. dragons move: 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 g6 5.Nc3 Bg7 6.Be3 Nf6 7.Bc4 d6)
he writes that 8.f3 "may actually be a weak move". and that 8.h3 "could be the forward"
He now gives 8..Qb6!! and calls it the The Kupreichik sniper Dragon.
After the normal 9.Nf5 he writes "The following tactics may look a bit scary for Black but a deeper investigation will prove Black is not only equal but in fact has the better prospects"
His mainline runs: 9..Qxb2 10.Nxg7 Kf8 11.Nd5 Nxd5 12.Bxd5 Kxg7 and now 13.Kf2 Qc3 14.Rb1 Qa5 15.Rb3 f6!
1. What is the real name of the variation after 8..Qb6?
2. What is the standart "refutation" of 8..Qb6?
I think that many dragon players can find a lot useful stuf in the book. Not only after 1.e4 but also after 1.d4. It could be a useful alternative to the usual opening repertoire for many dragon players.
