Maybe they will implement a 'Save as Draft' button in the next version of the software ... should they every get around to finishing it! Roll Eyes In the meantime it doesn't appear to exist so I suggest using Jesse's solution.

I'm totally in favor of a 'save as draft' button. More than once I had to delete a post I was writing upon realising more analysis was needed and I hadnt the time to do it.

Hello everybody!

One point that strengthens my point from my initial post: These days, still being on holydays, I keep contact to the forum via Ipad. With this, it would indeed be not just less unelegant  Wink, but truly helpful to have such a "Save as Draft" button!

Best regards,

Shocked  !!

I have to admit that "unelegant" is a germanism - as you might guess, the translation of English "inelegant" is German unelegant. Fortunately, I'm not an anglicist!

Ok, for a professional philologist to use the word "unelegant" as opposed to the "proper" "inelegant" begs the question.

Dear Jesse,

I see one possibility in an extension to the heading in the top right corner: "Good Evening Zzz, you have X messages, Y new messages and Z drafts." Clicking "drafts" would lead to a page similar to the "User CP > New message" page, indicating the threads the drafts were meant for. I admit that I have no idea how easy or how difficult that would be to implement, but as this obviously works for PMs, it should also work for postings!?

just took a peek - it's tricky to implement - for example where would the 'draft' get saved?

something i do - write your message in notepad (or mousepad) and save it there until you're done.

"Save as Draft" button on "Post Reply" page

Hello everybody,

these days I finally discovered that on the "User CP > New message" page, which you hit on when you write a PM, instead of the "Preview" key there's a "Save as draft" key. I wonder why this isn't implemented on the "Post Reply" (and also the "Start New Topic") page, as I think it's quite a useful tool, especially when you're preparing a long and / or complicated posting.

What is your opinion?

Best regards,

Zwischenzugzwang
