3...Nf6 with the idea of ...e6 and ...d5 is a natural possibility.

Played for many years this line as White (but with 2. Ne2 & 3. c4 as it gives more options).

In the spirit of what Vass says above, best for Black if you want to keep the option to play a Najdorf is: 1. e4 c5 2. Ne2 d6 3. c4 e5 or 1. e4 c5 2. c4 e5 with a Q-side double Stonewall.

Actually, 2 recent losses in the above lines made me give up on the system as White.

If just blitzing, you can try 1.e4 c5 2.c4 Nc6 3.Ne2 Nf6 and after the natural 4.Nbc3... you can try 4...Qa5!?  Wink

Edit: Now seriously... There's no other way to stop d2-d4 in one try except e7-e5 when appropriate.

In blitz someone played this line as White against me:
1.e4 c5 2.c4 Nc6 3.Ne2, and I played 3...g6 allowing 4.d4 making it an accelerated dragon. I like to play the Najdorf so I was wondering what Black should play against this. Thanks!
