I found it interesting that Khalifman proposes only systems with f4 and not with f3.
I am curious of your comparison Milen, as I liked your contribution for members and you seem to play the classical very much Wink

Would be interested to hear your opinion about the book. I got my copy yesterday and will take a deeper look these days. At first sight a lot of interesting new ideas and analysis, but also some missing critical lines.
I am quite curious why after 6...Qb6 Khalifman looks only on 7.Nb3... May be I have a hole in my analysis published a couple of months ago for members...

the book is "in Print"  according to the website www.chess-stars.com

so the Rauzer is busted Cheesy

Busted or not...we can at least hope it will set big problems for black to solve. If we listen to Khalifmans own words...I can only say it sounds good.

: "Presently, Black’s
main lines are considered to be 8...Be7 and 8...Bd7, but his opponent is
better in both cases. This would be particularly true if the White players
have read this book..."

"You must lead your opponent into a deep, dark forest, where 2 + 2 = 5 and
where the path back out is only broad enough for one of you." (((Mikhail Tal)))

What exactly is the "Kozul's suicide variation" ?

6. Bg5 e6 7. Qd2 a6 8. 0-0-0 Bd7 9. f4 b5, so dubbed by Yermolinsky (though he has played it too).

Recently I and one of my frineds are working hard on the Classical Sicilian and especially Rauzer. Can't wait what he will propose against Kozul's suicide variation. Our analysis show that Kozul's line is still alive and playable. So let us see what Khalifman will propose... Also 6...Bd7 is good for Black. Galkin's assessment that the road to equality is very thin in NIC Yearbook is correct but for now i do not see how White can improve.

I see that the Khalif has jumped on the 8 ... h6 9. Nxc6!? bandwagon as anyone else. For some obstinate reason I never trusted this strange line for White. It just seems wrong to take on c6 and strengthen Black's center like that. Instead I believe in the traditional retreat 9. Be3 with kinside play against the weakness h6 to follow.

I also had a soft spot for that line. Good to see it's doing well lately.

I will be very interested to see Khalifman's opinion of the fashionable 6...Bd7 7.Qd2 Rc8 variation. The last time I checked this line (a month ago), Black was close to achieving complete equality.
