White can circumvent this with the move order 1.d4 e6 2.Nf3 f5 3.g3 - but that does cut out some of his Nh3 options.

Any Dutch fans out there.
With so many new books coming out in the last year on various types of Dutch I expect this half-forgotten opening to make a comeback.
See my Daring Defences column for developments.

One line not covered in the recent "repertoire" books but used by GMs Glek and Naumkin is the following:

1 d4 e6 2 c4 (What else, surely not 2 e4!?) f5 2 g3 Nf6 3 Bg2 Bb4+

It's not exactly the talk of the town but it's not easy to find anything convincing for White.
